Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai

Pomegranate Martini

Happened to be at Hard Rock Cafe one saturday evening, and they were celebrating St.Patrick's Day, so the Irish tourism & Hard Rock Cafe were doling our freebies. Big prizes like 4 night stay in Dublin for two etc. The fun part began when they asked four women to come up on stage for a beer drinking competition, whoever could drink a pint of beer in the shortest time won a Rs.1000 Hard Rock cafe gift voucher. It was definitely a treat to see the women compete in a beer drinking competition, trust me you have to see it to believe it. The woman who won, actually downed the pint in 14.2 seconds flat. St.Patrick would surely be happy with that!!!! To add to that she was an investment banker, I for sure am not handing my money over to her. I have a frined who would have definitely won this competition hands down, unfortunately she was not there, would have at least reduced my bill amount by 1K. Jewellery deisgner, I missed you over there.

Now comes the guys turn, this time the comeptition was stiffer, seven people competing, so the rewards were high, a trip for two to Dublin, how cool is that. So, after a lot of beer being spilled on the stage coz it came out of people's mouths (not a pretty sight, trust me), the second last guy to give it a try turned out to be the dude of dudes, 5.1 seconds, POOF!! now you see it, now you don't. Hat's off to you buddy. A coincidence, our dude is a banker too....What is with these guys?? Is this what these bankers do all the time......... drink beer and play with other people's money.

Fashion Week, New Delhi

I happened to be in Delhi last week and a friend who is in the fashion industry was very kind to invite me to watch one of the shows over there. To be precise, it was Tarun Tahiliani's show. Going by the IST (Indian Stretchable Time), the show of course started late. My knowledge of fashion is limited to what i have seen on FTV, which is anorexic models wearing strange unwearable clothes.

The experience turned out to be a very different one, the clothes were definitely wearable, I for sure can not afford them, not with the label at least. Though the heady mix of many litres of perfume poured over themselves by the people around and the loud music did end up giving me a headache by the end of it. To add to that was the usual air kissing amongst the page 3 people & the other wannabes. The media as always had gone berserk clicking pictures and I think there were a million still cameras and an equal no. of journos with microphones in their hands.

All in all my first brush with the fashion industry was an interesting one, quite an eye opener to a pseudo world.
